HOYO armchair makes us feel like being hugged. During the pandemic, people have to stay at home for a longer time, and can’t maintain the connections with people as before. So we wanted to create a more comfortable wooden armchair. They also can feel the warmth from wood. We were inspired by the hugging posture. Transform the arms shape into the arm of the chair. Users will feel like being hugged when they are sitting on HOYO. Our furniture is not just designed for functions but also able to comfort people’s heart.\
For chair structure, our brand was using the traditional Danish furniture structure and combining the features of Chinese Ming-style armchairs. We'd like to combine the eastern philosophy and western structure to creat a new Taiwan style.
HOYO, when Taiwanese are in a cutesy manner, we'll say "hoyo" in mandarin and hug each other. At the same time, we also have a very strong Japanese culture DNA in our society. Coincidentally, Hoyo means hug in Japanese. In this case, it made us decide to call our armchair " HOYO" to represent our rich multi-culture and show our relaxing sense of humor.
